What to serve with chilli con carne instead of rice
There are so many options regarding what to have with chilli con carne. Here are some of my favourites.
Chilli fries

Chilli pasta bake
I always make more chilli than I need, so I often make a really simple pasta bake with some of it. This is probably not the first thing you might think of when wondering what to eat with chilli con carne, but it’s one of my favourites. In an ovenproof dish, mix the chilli with some cooked pasta, then top with grated cheese. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180 degrees fan, and serve.
Chilli nachos
If time is of the essence when wondering what do I serve with chilli con carne, then try this quick Mexican style meal. Spread some tortilla chips out over a plate and spoon over some heated chilli. Scatter over some grated cheese over the Nachos, then grill for a few minutes until the cheese has melted.
Chilli jacket potato
When it comes to what goes well with chilli con carne, a baked spud is a classic. Fill a jacket potato with chilli, plus some cheese if you like. There’s no need to add butter, as the chilli provides plenty of sauce, but of course you can if you want to.
Chilli enchiladas
Fill tortilla wraps with chilli, roll up and place in an ovenproof dish. Top with grated cheese and creme fraiche, mixed together and cook in the oven for about 20 minutes at 180 degrees fan.
Chilli pizza
What bread to serve with chilli con carne? How about a pizza base? Spread some chilli over a shop-bought base. Top with grated cheese, then oven bake as per base pack instructions for a deliciously different, Italian-Mexican fusion dish.
Chilli burger
If pondering what can I serve with chilli con carne, then perhaps you need look no further than your local pub. As I did here. Dollop a spoonful of chilli and on top of a cooked burger. You can add cheese and jalapenos too, if you wish.
Chilli with rice
Last, but by no means least, there’s one more to add to this list about how to serve chilli con carne. You could always eat it with rice. You can also be inventive about what to serve with chilli con carne and rice. Add tortilla chips, cheese, jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, tacos and more…
